How it works

Everything you need to know about buying, selling and earning on the Skills Store. Updated 01/09/2026.

In a nutshell

The TranslaStars Skills Store is a marketplace of ready-to-use skills, prompts, linguistic resources and workflows for localization professionals. Creators publish their products, buyers purchase them, and every purchase includes the complete guide with the tools used to build it. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Sellers keep 100% of the price they set: a 10% platform fee is added on top of the seller price and paid by the buyer.

For buyers

1
Browse the catalog
Filter by category, price or ecosystem and open any product to see its full description, screenshots and reviews. Resources are tagged by type, so you can find Translation Memories (TMX), Termbases and Glossaries (TBX) at a glance.
2
Sign in
Sign in with your email using a magic link. No passwords to remember, and it takes seconds.
3
Checkout
Free skills are granted instantly. Paid skills go through Stripe checkout. You pay the price plus the 10% platform fee.
4
Access your guide
After payment, the full guide unlocks on the product page and in your dashboard. You can re-download it any time. If the product includes files, you will find them in the Files section with download links.
5
Free updates forever
When a creator publishes a new version, you get an email notification and can download it at no extra cost. Your purchase always includes the latest version.

Reviews, sharing and messaging

Only verified buyers can review a product, so ratings are real. You can also share any product with colleagues on WhatsApp, Telegram, X, LinkedIn, Facebook or by email using the share button on each product page and catalog card. If you have a question or want to negotiate a bulk deal, use Contact seller on the product page - it sends a message straight to the creator. Interested but not ready to buy? Message seller lets you reach out too, and you’ll get replies in your Dashboard > Messages.

For sellers

1
Sign in and apply
Create your seller profile: name, bio, website and country.
2
Add billing info
Legal name, tax ID and fiscal address. Required before your first withdrawal and to invoice TranslaStars for your sales.
3
Publish your skill
Price it, add tags and write the guide (the deliverable). The guide editor has 6 sections: What this is, Features, Setup, Configuration, Troubleshooting and FAQ. If you upload a TM (TMX) or a Term Base / Glossary (TBX), it is detected automatically and tagged so buyers can find it in the filter.
4
Get reviewed and earn
The TranslaStars team reviews your submission. Once approved, every sale credits your wallet with 100% of your price.

Analytics, messages and notifications

Your Dashboard gives you the tools to grow and stay on top of every sale and inquiry:

Wallet, escrow and withdrawals

Invoicing

TranslaStars acts as the merchant of record: we collect payment from buyers, hold it in escrow and pay you out. For every sale you can download a sales document from your Dashboard > Wallet transactions (button 🧾 Doc). It records the sale date, buyer, product, your 100% price, the platform fee and the total paid by the buyer. Keep these documents together with your payout records for your tax declaration: you are responsible for declaring your sales income to your tax authority according to your local rules. Buyers receive their payment receipt from Stripe automatically.

FAQ

Do I need an account to buy?
Yes. Sign in with your email via magic link. It takes seconds and lets you access your purchased guides from your dashboard.
How do I get the product after buying?
The full guide unlocks immediately on the product page and in your dashboard (My purchases). For skills with attached files, a download link is provided.
How do I review a product?
Only verified buyers can review, so ratings are real. Go to the product page after purchasing and leave a rating from 1 to 5 with an optional comment.
How long until my earnings are available?
Each sale stays in escrow for 14 days. After that it becomes available for withdrawal, as long as there is no refund or complaint for that sale.
What is the minimum withdrawal?
20 EUR. You can request a withdrawal from your dashboard; TranslaStars processes it by bank transfer, typically within 5-10 business days.
What fees does TranslaStars charge?
A 10% platform fee is added on top of the seller price and paid by the buyer. Sellers keep 100% of the price they set - the fee is never deducted from their earnings. The fee covers payment processing, hosting and support.
How does VAT / tax work?
VAT (where applicable) is calculated automatically at checkout and depends on the country where the buyer is located (for example 21% in Spain, 19% in Germany). The displayed price already includes the platform fee; VAT is added on top at checkout. VAT never comes out of the seller's price. Sellers are responsible for declaring their sales income to their tax authority; the sales documents in the Dashboard > Wallet transactions support that declaration.
Who issues the invoice for my purchase?
TranslaStars acts as the merchant of record, so the purchase receipt is issued by TranslaStars through Stripe. Sellers receive their payment and can download a sales document per sale from their dashboard (Wallet transactions > 🧾 Doc).
Can I get an invoice / sales document for each of my sales as a seller?
Yes. Every paid sale generates a sales document for the seller. Open your Dashboard, go to Wallet transactions and click the 🧾 Doc button on any sale to view, print or save it as PDF. It shows your 100% price, the platform fee, the total paid by the buyer and your billing details.
Can I share a product with a colleague?
Yes. Every product page and catalog card has a share button with WhatsApp, Telegram, X, LinkedIn, Facebook and email options.
What happens if I have a problem with a product?
Use the Contact form to open a ticket. The TranslaStars team reviews every ticket and responds to your email.
How do I become a seller?
Click "Become a seller", sign in, complete your seller profile and billing info, then publish your first skill. Our team reviews it before it goes live.
